Class 10: Machine Building

3 minute read

I had to make this up late, due to some personal issues (I was moving!). Once everything was settled, I set out to make a bluetooth-controlled desk opener. I thought it would be very funny because I saw zero practical application for this device other than it looks very nice and intelligent.

I built on my knowledge from the last class in the bluetooth-controlled aspect of this, and overall this took longer than expected because it took me an unnaturally long time to realize that my nuts and bolts were too large for the bearings. So instead I used the wrench instead. Also, remember to hover over the image gallery!

I basically taped the part that is supposed to move to the desk so that the motor would move instead. I attached the motor to the desk with tape so that the motor would move horizontally to open the drawer.

This and the image to the right are both pictures of the finished version. It is basically a slightly modified version of the one in the lab tailored to nuts and bolts that don't fully work.

And nothing fancy about the wiring. Just the standard wiring we saw in class.
